Discover: What We Do, Why It Matters, and How We Make It Happen

The Inequality Hub is committed to generating and disseminating cutting-edge research on the perception, legitimation, and institutionalisation of socio-economic inequalities within and across societies around the world.

Key questions include:

(1) How do we perceive and legitimise income disparities and related social policies? (2) What are our emotional responses and behavioural reactions to the growing gaps in income and wealth? (3) How are our perceptions of inequality and justice shaped by our socio-political environments? (4) In what ways do public institutions enforce and perpetuate inequalities in society?

By addressing these questions, we aim to shed light on the complex forces that drive the manifestation and perpetuation of socio-economic inequalities and identify potential pathways for social change.

MISSION
The Inequality Hub is dedicated to advancing our understanding of how socio-economic inequalities are perceived, legitimised, and institutionalised within and across societies to generate new insights into the mechanisms of social inertia and identify potential pathways for meaningful social change.
VISION

The Inequality Hub seeks to become a leading platform for the dissemination and exchange of cutting-edge research across disciplines to make data-driven recommendations that help reduce inequalities within and among countries.

Our Team

The Inequality Hub is directed by Professor Simone M. Schneider. It is a key component of the ERC-funded research project PERGAP, which is implemented by the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy in Munich. Simone works with a team of scholars and graduate students who collaborate to design, implement, and promote inequality research featured on the Inequality Hub.
