First Slide of Presentation of Simone M. Schneider | RC28 Spring `25 Meeting in Milan
Dr. Simone Schneider presented ongoing research on the impact of educational tracking on public attitudes toward educational opportunities across European countries in her talk titled Fairness in Educational Opportunities: Myth or Reality? People’s Fairness Assessments in the Institutional Context at the RC28 Spring ’25 Meeting in Milan hosted by Università degli Studi di Milano.
The study utilized data from the European Social Survey and institutional indicators, in particular educational tracking, to examine how institutional structures influence fairness perceptions of educational inequalities. The presentation drew an international audience of academics interested in stratification research sparking critical discussions on the scientific and political implications of these findings. Simone´s work fostered dialogue on how education systems shape fairness assessments of educational opportunities – related to the self and others in society, contributing to broader debates on the role of institutions in shaping public opinion.
