Dr. Simone Schneider presented ongoing research on the impact of educational tracking and state redistribution on public opinion across European countries in her talks titled Equality of Opportunity: The Impact Educational Tracking on the Perceived Justice of Educational Opportunities and Preferences for Redistribution: The Impact of Government Intervention at the fifth International European Social Survey (ESS) conference “20 years of European Social Survey data” hosted by ICS – University of Lisbon and ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon.

Both studies utilized data from the ESS, examining how institutional structures influence perceptions of inequality and justice. The presentations drew an international audience of academics, particularly ESS users, sparking critical discussions on the scientific and political implications of these findings.

Simone´s work fostered dialogue on how education systems and government interventions shape self-perceptions and attitudes towards inequality, contributing to broader debates on the role of institutions in shaping public opinion.
